Tea Time with Tony

Brewing the perfect cup

  1. Heat the water to the appropriate temperature.
  2. Either place the teabag into your favorite mug or place a teaspoon of tea into an infuser.
  3. Pour the water into your mug and steep for the appropriate amount of time.
  4. Take the teabag or infuser out of the mug.
  5. Add anything you'd like into your tea.
  6. Enjoy!

First you have to look at what kind of tea you are brewing. Different teas require the water to be at different temperatures and to be steeped for different amounts of time. For black tea, it's best to boil the water to 212 F and steep for 5 minutes. Green time likes the water to be at about 175 F and to be steeped for about 3-5 minutes. White tea is the most delicate tea and should be placed in water that is about 150 F and steeped for 3 minutes.

Types of tea

“No matter where you are in the world, you are at home when tea is served.” – Earlene Grey

There are many different kinds of tea leaves, varying from region to region. The three main types of tea leaves are black, green, and white. There are also different kinds of green tea leaves based on the country of origin. The same is true with black and white tea leaves. There is also yellow tea, oolong, and pu-erh tea.

Why Tony?

“The Adventure begins with Tea” – Unknown

Tea Time with Tony started after Tony's grandmother, Teresa, fell ill. Teresa loved tea and had many mugs and delicate china sets from her home country. When she became sick, Tony saw tea as a way to spend the little time she had left with her grandmother. Tony learned things about her grandmother's life that Tony would have never gotten a chance otherwise, and this sparked an idea. From the time she got to spend hearing stories from her grandmother, Tony founded "Tea Time with Tony" a tea service that brings generations together to exchange life experience over tea. Tony's grandmother got to see the first ever service and even got to tell her own stories to the group. In fact, Teresa has gotten to come to many tea times. Her health improved and she is still with us today.
