Dogs!

What you should know before you adopt.

Health

Your new furry friend might need shots, to be spayed or neutered, and flea or heart-worm treatments. After the first few visits, dogs need an annual checkup every . This expenses can be near $500 in the first few months.

Feeding

A common food allergy is wheat so make sure to check how certain foods affect your dog. Some breeds benefit from eating more frequently. Clean fresh water is the best compliment to fresh food. Make sure to change your dog’s water once a day.

Temperament

Temperament has a lot to do with training. Bigger dogs are often seen as scary while smaller dogs don’t pose a threat but that is untrue. Any dog showing aggression needs to be trained.

Why Adopt

When you adopt a dog from a shelter, you are saving two lives: your dog’s life and the dog who will take its place. Shelters have limited space and many of the dogs have never known love. By adopting, you are taking away the demand for breeders and one day there may not be any dogs in poor conditions.
